Recent Happenings
Hey! So the past few weeks have brought a new flurry of manic inspiration on my part, or something along those lines, and while I can't promise any of it is worthwhile, it is music or something like it nonetheless, and hopefully will soon be streaming across the airwaves of the internet to a speaker near you. Most of my recent podcasts have been centered on various forms of electronica-influenced stuff, but I'm hoping to diversify that in the future to include alt/indie rock, reggae, and even dabbling a bit into world/contemporary genres. Too much good music out there! I've been fortunate to discover some great new stuff lately.... many of the ESL Label artists spring to mind... I've been listening quite a bit to Argentinian guitarist and singer/songwriter Federico Aubele, whose last album, "Gran Hotel Buenos Aires", was produced by none other than ESL veterans Thievery Corporation, who also have a fantastic new album, "Radio Retaliation." If you have not copped either of these albums I recommend you do so soon! On the more dance/pop-influenced side of electronica, I've been getting really into anything that Alex Metric, Chromeo, or Treasure Fingers has touched, they seem to be constantly red-defining themselves with innovative new remix material. Alex Metric's new releases "In Your Machine" and "Deadly on a Mission" are particularly awesome. Also noteworthy is the new-ish album "Inside Out" by downtempo masters Kuba, which shines with such easy listening gems like "Trustafari", "It could be", and "Be Love." Their dub-flavored tracks are especially smooth and well-produced. Props to facebook music linking for introducing me to Kuba. A surprisingly useful little tool. Anyways that's a quick briefing of what I've been up to.... more music to come!!
